About the Museum

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada believes in the value of play. Children learn the wonder of science, art and everyday life skills as they explore, create and share with others. The CMNN is a play-based learning environment for the whole family to experience together.

About Us

Our History

  • 1988 – Incorporated as a private, non-profit educational institution with a 501 (c) (3) designation
  • 1991 – Opened with limited space in the Nevada State Museum
  • 1994 – Opened in the restored Carson City Civic Auditorium with 30 hands-on exhibits, 4,000 square feet of exhibit space plus stage and foyer for admission desk, gift shop and restrooms
  • 2000 – Lower level remodeled into offices, kitchen, class and meeting rooms, workshop and storage
  • 2010 – Added bathrooms to the lower level
  • 2012 – Space transformed to include even more manipulative exhibits
  • 2013 – S.T.E.M. room added to the basement
