Full time staff:

Luana Olsen
Luana Olsen Luana has been the Director of the Children's museum since January 2012. She has extensive administrative and bookkeeping experience and has taught in the public schools for 12 years. She received her Bachelor's Degree with a double major in Elementary Education and English Literature in Minnesota and holds a current Nevada State Teaching License as well as a Master's Degree in Computer Education which she received in California.

Lu's love of children and education is reflected in the new exhibits and workshops being created. She is enhancing current exhibits and making many changes to accommodate new ways for children to interactively discover the world in which they live. She opened the preschool/dinosaur exhibit in March of 2012 and opened an exhibit in September of 2012 featuring Nevada's mining industry. With the help of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Class of 2013, the S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering and math) room was opened in September 2013. The STEM room is located in the basement.

We at the Museum want all of our exhibits to be play-based learning experiences. Lu's main focus; "I would like to get kids motivated, and bring back the excitement and wonder of exploring and discovering science and the arts."

Charlotte Stewart, Operations Director
Charlotte Stewart We are excited to introduce you to Charlotte Stewart, our new Operations Manager. Charlotte came to us in January of 2016.

As Operations Manager, Charlotte needs to not only love children and help provide a safe environment for them, but also have an aptitude for administrative duties. She has both qualities, and does them well.

When in Central California, she volunteered at the Children’s Hospital as a Child Life Aide and in the NICU. Her background in the Medical Office Administration field has been beneficial to the museum.

“I believe that children learn the most through hands-on experience. My favorite part about my job is to hear a child’s laughter, and watch their excitement when they see our exhibits each time they come.”

Next time you are in the area, stop by and welcome Charlotte to Carson City and the Children’s Museum.
