Volunteer Positions
Volunteers of all ages (16+) are needed in all aspects of the museum from special event staff to weekly after school help. Technical volunteers are needed to repair, refurbish and upgrade exhibits. Builders, carpenters, painters, exhibit designers, janitors, and gardeners are needed to help expand and maintain our facilities. We are also looking for volunteers to help reorganize and sort through supplies, decorate for special holidays, run fundraisers, and write grants.
All volunteers are required to fill out a timesheet for their volunteer work that must be initialed by museum staff. Every quarter (unless otherwise specified) these timesheets are evaluated and a letter is sent out showing the amount of time volunteered for your records. These letters are especially helpful to students for college applications or satisfying club commitments. Please note that all volunteers must be fingerprinted by the Carson City Sheriffs Department (ask gift shop attendant for details).
High School or college credit can be arranged for your hours volunteering at the museum. A credit contract must be predetermined and filled out by both museum staff and school staff BEFORE any volunteer hours are completed.
Volunteer hours can also satisfy community service requirements (excluding drug or alcohol related charges). For more information on completing your community service with the museum, please contact:
